Anne Bradford Warner has taught and served as an administrator at Spelman since 1981. She came to Spelman after receiving her Ph.D. from Emory University, with a specialty in U.S. literature; she has published articles on Harriet Jacobs, Toni Morrison, and John Berryman--in addition to more general pieces on early African American literature and, more recently, on writing and technology. She has always had an intense interest in teaching composition and promoting a strong writing curriculum. Recently, as Director of the Writing Center, Dr. Warner has implemented a $300,000 Bush-Hewlett grant for faculty development and student learning; has co-written several articles about the Bush-Hewlett grant; and has worked to improve the effectiveness of the First-Year Writing Portfolio, especially as it has evolved into the Spelman electronic portfolio.
