UROP Matrix

Resource Type:
OSP Matrix

This is the UROP Matrix used for both Seminar Reflection and workflow guidance through the program. It is a somewhat atypical Matrix in that it does not employ intersections of learning outcomes and development levels. Rather, the columns represent workflow steps and the rows represent weeks of seminar.

During the year-long UROP experience, students complete, within the Matrix, pre- and post-program surveys, extended reflections at the midpoints of each semester. The UROP program employs peer facilitation as well as faculty mentoring. There are three detailed activities that receive targeted feedback from both the Peer Advsor and the Faculty Mentor within the Matrix. These are the:

  • Learning Agreement, where the student outlines the rationale for joining UROP and some desired outcomes related to research skills and academic development
  • Research Abstract, where the project being completed is outlined in an abstract format, to be guided by both the peer advisor and faculty mentor
  • Final Presentation, where the results of the research are assembled in a structured format. The content from this cell is used to assemble the final web-based presentation of the research.
